Monsters at Play is a collaboration of like-minded individuals who share the single goal of providing high-quality entertainment coverage in the areas of film, music and gaming. What started out as a small-scale experiment has blossomed into a thriving online community rife with informed opinions on a wide range of topics. With acclaim from fans, filmmakers and game developers, Monsters at Play has grown into a respected source for objective reviews.
Founded in 2001 by Lawrence P. Raffel, Monsters at Play began as a grassroots campaign to provide better horror DVD review coverage than its competition. With the rallying cry of "If these idiots can get free DVDs, then why not us?", Monsters at Play debuted with mixed results, but quickly caught on with discerning film patrons looking for educated opinions. We then added a game review site and the much-discussed two-minute review feature, as well as a music channel.
Frequent updates and credible content are the main reasons for our early success. Monsters at Play has thrived strictly because of the dedication and tenacity of its members, and we'd like to tell you all about these fine people.
