Ahhhhh, where would we be today if it weren't for the WIP flicks that we hold so dear (That's Women in Prison flicks for the uninitiated, hmph) Bottom line is a guilty pleasure is a guilty pleasure. If we wanna sit back and relax with a good ole' "WIP" flick, it's our god given right, no dirty looks from anybody! It's all here for ya, catfights, rape, lesbianism (double dose from inmates and guards), high pressure showers, decapitation, and most importantly, lots of attractive flesh on display. The story seems to be absent, but hey beggars can't be choosers, bring on Women in Fury!
It seems that Angela is sent to some sort of women's prison somewhere in Brazil for a murder she didn't commit. Taking the rap for her brother, Angela is thrust into a nightmarish world while her brother roams free. Angela (easy on the eyes Suzane Carvalho) is repeatedly beaten and raped by inmates and guards alike. It doesn't take long (or does it) for the resident doctor to take a shine to Angela and realize something is really wrong (his intentions are good, what a guy). Well, to make a long story short, there are quite a few catfights and plenty of bared flesh, before the women revolt and escape into the Jungle, with guards in hot pursuit. The good doctor gets Angela acquitted of all charges, but it's too late, as she has already escaped, and is once again, a wanted woman.
Women in Fury is pure and utter sleaze from start to finish. Well, now that we've gotten that out of the way, we can enjoy ourselves. Shriek Show has presented Women in Fury full frame (its original ratio?) in a nice clear and crisp transfer. There is little to no print damage evident, aside from the occasional speckle. No scratches and barely a hint of film grain are present. The full frame transfer boasts impressive clarity, with what appears to be sharp and stable colors. Sound is Dolby Digital mono, and is equally impressive. There is absolutely no distortion, and dialogue is extremely clear and audible (if not a bit annoying considering the awful dub job).
Extras include trailers for Women in Prison, Prisoner Maria and Demonia. Oddly enough, a trailer for Women in Fury is not present.
Well, if you're looking to fulfill your depravity quotient, this is certainly one way to do it. Shriek Show has done a fine job in allowing us to be really evil. While light on the extras, the quality of the presentation, and the under 20.00 price tag, should make this one a must for fans of exploitation, and WIP films, alike.
