Astaroth Entertainment aka erotichorror.com has provided The Monsters with countless hours of questionable (meaning highly offensive) entertainment. This is one production company that you really don't want your mother to know about. Their recently released follow up to their erotic/horror/comedy hybrid film The Necro Files (review here) has just been released to DVD-R, and we're here to give you all of the disturbing details. Witness The Necro Files 2 Lust Never Dies if you dare, and take a hell of a long hot shower afterwards, you're sure as shit gonna need it.

For those of you who missed Episode 1 (or need a quick refresher) there's a kind of Escape From New York-ish prologue at the start of the flick to fill you in on all of the gory details of the first Necro Files. Returning to the scene are detectives Sloane and Manners - chasing after another gruesome serial killer who's been running around town, slicing and dicing the babes. Turns out that the older brother of Rod Logan (murderer from the original Necro Files) is continuing the bloody tradition of his kin. After laying waste to a few young ladies, he takes a trip to visit his brothers' grave to pay his respects. It's at this point that a potent mix of alcohol, vomit and urine bring his long dead brother Rod Logan (AKA zombie with a 12-inch penis) back to life, ready for some more monstrous mayhem.

(Editor's Note: In my review for the first Necro Files, I refer to the zombie as having a 7-inch penis. After viewing the second in the series, I was either not looking close enough the first time around, or his penis has grown since the first film. It's definitely more like 12-inches, BTW - I'm NOT gay...thank you.)

While Sloane and Manners are chasing down Rod Logan's brother, Rod himself (zombie with a 12-inch penis, remember?) is also taking care of business. What follows are a slew of setups as girls are stripped, manhandled, and "taken care of" with a 12-inch zombie cock (if you know what I mean, and I think you do). Certainly not a film for family night.

Where to begin with this one folks, where to begin. Well, I guess it goes without saying that The Necro Files 2 will not be a film for everyone. Is it a good film? Well, no not really. It's cheap, illogical and full of cinematic flaws. But, at the same time, this is all part of the films charm. The filmmakers really make no apologies for any of this, and they really don't have to. You're dealing with a zombie with a 12-inch cock who rapes young girls for godsakes! It's pretty simple actually, Necro Files 2 makes the viewer some promises, and fully delivers on said promises. Although sadly, not a whole heck of a lot has changed since the first film. It's a lot of been there done that, I certainly wouldn't have minded a fresh approach to some of the material (I really did miss the flying demon baby from the first film). Don't get me wrong, the filmmakers have followed rule #1 in making a horror sequel in that the material is a hell of a lot more gruesome. Many of these scenes do indeed cross that line that would make members of the MPAA's heads spin. There's definitely more nudity in this film as well, along with some errrrr, extreme close-ups if you will along with plenty of blood splatter and even a dash of cannibalism.

Performances rank right up there with the first film, meaning mostly terrible. But once again, there's the charm factor. Nearly all of the exchanges between Sloane and Manners are painful to watch, however, it's nearly impossible to turn away. The films budgetary restrictions creep in from time to time as well and we're reminded of the films ultra low budget origins. It's evident in quite a few scenes that the zombie is wearing "monster gloves" when his sleeves creep up (Oops!) and I'm still unsure as to why the detectives use an electric razor as a walkie-talkie! Even at a brisk 70-minute runtime the film could have been a bit tighter as well, see the extended chase sequence in the forest that should have been cut down a bit as an example. Through it all, It's evident that the story is secondary to scenes of cute girls being slaughtered and taken advantage of sexually - so you do indeed get what you paid for.

Speaking of the ladies, at times the film comes across as nothing more than an extended death fetish video or a death fetish compilation if you will. There are even a few familiar faces from Astaroth's death fetish line up to be found as well. The beauty of it all (evident from the behind-the-scenes and commentary) is that the cast and crew retain a great sense of humor throughout the whole affair, and this is what I respect the most.

Video quality is about what one would expect from a shot on video flick of this caliber. The non-anamorphic widescreen image looks fine, with only a few hints of digital artifacts. Audio is presented in a clean surround mix, no distortion to speak of.

Extras include an 8-minute behind the scenes segment, trailers for Necro Files 2 and some death Fetish titles, a still gallery, 6 deleted scenes (with or without commentary and A LOT more nudity) along with a feature length cast and crew commentary. Any footage with a commentary track is worth a listen (deleted scenes and feature film) simply because of the fact that everyone involved knew exactly what it is that they were making. Everyone involved keeps a great sense of humor about the whole thing and they even take shots at one another other from time to time, very entertaining.

It's really hard to offer a flat out reccomendation for a film like the Necro Files 2, although I did indeed have a fun time with this disc overall. The $30.00 price tag is a bit steep (for a DVD-R in a color case, no less) but still, I encourage you to head on over to www.erotichorror.com if you find yourself curious or intrigued to see exactly what it is that they have to offer.
