Michael Apted, the man who brought us the "up" series, delves into the minds of seven scientists of varying degrees. The "Up" series, for those not in the know, started in the 60's with a group of children, 7 years of age. Every seven years the filmmakers revisit the participants to chronicle their lives. Seven scientists are profiled in Me & Isaac Newton, and we are given an exclusive tour into their minds, and into their lives.
The 7 scientists featured in: Me & Isaac Newton are
- Michio Kaku - Thoretical Physicist
- Maja Mataric - Computer Scientist
- Karol Sikora - prof of Cancer Medicine
- Patricia Wright - Primatologist
- Steven Pinker - Cognitive Scientist
- Gertrude Elion - Pharmaceutical Chemist
- Ashok Gadgil - Enviromental Physicist
Chronicling the work of these 7 brilliant minds, the documentary is split into 4 separate sections.
- Beginnings gives us a glimpse of their childhood, and what it was like for each of them growing up.
- The Work gives us an insight into each of their respective professions.
- Eureka chronicals their discoveries.
- The Future gives us a peek at what's in store.
Me & Isaac Newton is presented mildly lbx at approx 1:75.1 with a new 2.0 pro logic surround mix. The picture is nothing short of astounding, considering the many sources used. Colors and fleshtones are dead on, with not a hint of artifacting or print damage. Sound is crystal clear with the subtle yet effective surround mix.
Overall, this is an impressive presentation from HVE of and interesting if not unusual title.
