Lawrence

"Hell hath no fury like 10,000 Women!"

10,000? Not likely, but more amazons are in this film than you could shake a stick at! Tribes of Amazon Women enslave men and only use them for their "seeds" as they say. Male children are destroyed, and females are brought up with the ever so important ethic of man hating. In the mean time, a peaceful village nearby, just minding their own business, fear an attack from the Amazons is impending. Boy are they right. The Amazons overrun their village, nabbing all the nubile young men. The distraught village, tired of being picked on by the Amazons, enlists the help of a team of renegade bandits to teach them how to defend themselves. The rest, as they say, is history.

Battle of the Amazons, is pure cheese, at its guilty pleasurin' finest. Yes you will feel guilty for enjoying this movie, but that's OK you don't have to tell anyone. Not like I am right now anyway. EuroVista presents Battle of the Amazons, in its original scope ratio, and it looks pretty good. It's certainly not up to par with some other recent restorations, but really, is there any reason that it should be? The colors are muted, and there are the occasional scratches in the film, but the transfer is far from an eyesore, it looks pretty damn good for a film of this caliber.

The sound is Dolby Digital Mono, English, and is extremely clear. Dialogue is crisp, and easy to make out. The soundtrack is pure 70's enjoyment. I'd love to nab a CD with the orchestrations.

Extras are pretty cool, for starters, you get a replica of the original pressbook, with add mats, etc. Two trailers one TV (widescreen and in pretty good shape) and one theatrical (full frame and in not so good shape). Talent Bios, and small image gallery (mostly publicity materials).

Considering that this title can be picked up for under 20 bucks, you're not likely to see another version of this film surface on DVD anytime soon. I say grab it before they're gone. If you don't believe me, listen to these riveting dialogue excerpts.

"We're farmers, not fighters!"
"What's the matter with you for the love of the gods!"

Did I mention there's even nude horseback riding! What the heck are you waiting for?
