Our photo pages make a triumphant return to our festival coverage after sitting on the shelf for retooling last year. We've got a brand spankin' new digital camera primed and ready to capture all the glitz, glamour and goofiness of Philadelphia's premier film event.
Opening night saw many unusual spectacles, some of which are documented below. We regret that we don't have photos of us posing with Alex de la Iglesia, that woman passed out in a pool of her own vomit, or of a certain festival programmer ballroom dancing to The Rainbow Connection.
We'll do better next time, we promise.
Film correspondent Michael Johnson poses for this photo during the opening night reception. Not pictured is his sizable entourage of beautiful lady friends.*
Alex de la Iglesia addresses the crowd after the screening of his film Ferpect Crime in this night-vision photo. His shirt denotes the number of strippers waiting in his hotel room (4). |

Monsters At Play Editor Lawrence P. Raffel makes out with a long-necked beauty named Stella at the after party. While the cat's away the mice will play, indeed! |
Party-goers — many of whom probably didn't attend the screening — shake their mighty cabooses to the strains of Material Girl at the opening night after party. |
Lawrence and Michael pose with festival Associate Program Director and belle-of-the-ball Travis Crawford, clad in his traditional genre attire. |
